Position Summary

POSITION SUMMARY:

Develops, documents, and underwrites commercial loans to existing and potential members. Promotes and solicits commercial deposit accounts and related products and services.

Salary range for this position is $145,230.02 - $169,790.92/yr with a progressive benefit package. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs essential duties and responsibilities in the following areas which may include, but are not limited to those listed and are subject to change:

  1. Adheres to the Credit Union's core values and Service Standards in carrying out GreenState's mission and vision.

  2. Demonstrates a positive member service (internal and external) focus at all times, greeting members and guests with a smile and eye contact immediately upon their arrival, using their name or acknowledging them, and thanking them for their business.

  3. Demonstrates teamwork in all interactions with co-workers and in the completion of all duties and responsibilities.

  4. Ensures confidentiality of member information.

  5. Cross-sells and refers all Credit Union products and services, including retail offerings.

  6. Evaluates, encourages, cooperates and develops cooperation among staff members to ensure quality of work, effective employee relations, and a “team effort” and prompt service to members.

  7. Participates in continuing education as necessary. Remains informed of Federal and State regulations which govern credit-granting procedures, including Equal Opportunity Act (Reg B), Federal Truth-in-Lending Act (REG Z), Fair Credit Reporting Act, and Bankruptcy Reform Act, and NCUA business loan rules.

  8. Ultimately responsible for assuring credit files are maintained in accordance with guidelines and insuring that all necessary documentation is in the file.

  9. Assures and prepares proper loan documentation for each transaction and is executed as required by the type of transaction.

  10. Assures appropriate documentation is maintained for loan approvals and rejections.

  11. Obtains, evaluates and analyzes financial information to determine the cash flow, credit worthiness of the borrower, collateral margins and debt service capacity to submit to Vice President Commercial Lending.

  12. Submits initial underwriting and proposed action of commercial loans to Vice President Commercial Lending and Credit Analyst for credit decisions and approval.

  13. Submits loan requests and proposed action to Vice President Commercial Lending and Commercial Loan Committee. Explains reasons for denial; counsels and explores options for members when loans are denied.

  14. Initiates business development activities by making calls on existing and potential members. Works to create a network of contacts and referral sources in the business community through involvement in a variety of activities.

  15. Explains the commercial loan application process and products to the membership. Conducts loan interview an analyzes loan requests and lease request, applicant(s) financial position, credit information, and ability to repay the loan in making an informed decision to approve or deny the loan and explains loan or lease documents to applicant(s).

     

    • Obtains annual financial and loan information that meets the credit union policy standards.

    • Is responsible for ensuring that all necessary documentation is in loan files, including
      regulatory compliance items.

    • Determines applicant qualifications and type of commercial loan most advantageous,
      approves or rejects the loan request in accordance with credit union policy.

    • Conducts commercial loan closing insuring proper documentation with needed signatures
      and compliance.

    • Pays out closed commercial loans, mails checks issued, and records needed documents.

    • Assists in collection and delinquency control of commercial and real estate loans as assigned.

  16. Obtains and analyzes current financial information on existing loans for the purpose of conducting periodic reviews to determine the ongoing credit worthiness of the borrower.

  17. Assures annual reviews or file memos are in file as required by policy for commercial credit relationships.

  18. Maintains delinquency and charge off levels within approved guidelines; responsible for collection activity of commercial accounts.

  19. Develops and understanding of the CUSO and its functions. Works collectively with the Vice President Commercial Lending to assure the CUSO is operating within the guidelines set forth in policy.

  20. Actively sells all business deposit accounts and other business products and services.

  21. Participates in community events to increase the Credit Unions’ visibility and to enhance and seek new business opportunities. Plays a vital role by participating in three community service organizations and/or credit union sponsored events, on an annual basis. Seeks leadership roles in these organizations and events.

Job Requirements/Expectations

  1. Ability to coordinate and prioritize assignments and organize work efficiently. Good time management skills required to manage multiple assignments on time.
  2. Interpersonal skills to represent the Credit Union in a positive way during member contact.
  3. Excellent figure aptitude, with accuracy and attention to detail required.
  4. Knowledge of procedures, forms and regulations as they relate to commercial lending and deposit gathering.
  5. Ability to deal tactfully and efficiently with members and co-workers on a professional level.
  6. Proficiency in a wide variety of personal computer software programs, including the Microsoft Office application suite.
  7. Ability, availability and willingness to work additional hours as dictated by the workload.
  8. A strong working knowledge of local area network directories, protocol and general maintenance procedures.
  9. Strong analytical skills with excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  10. Self-directed nature, ability to work independent of supervision, and ability to follow directions.
  11. Maturity and discretion to handle confidential information.
  12. Must be bondable.
  13. Four (4) year college degree preferred.
  14. Three (3) years of commercial lending or equivalent work experience preferred.

Reporting Relationship

Reports to the Vice President/Commercial Lending.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position is not responsible for the supervision of other employees.
