Position Summary

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Collateral Associate position is responsible for the analysis and monitoring of the collateral securing loans within the commercial portfolio.

Salary range for this position is $69,280.38 - $80,996.76 with a progressive benefit package. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
Performs essential duties and responsibilities in the following areas which may include but are not limited to those listed and are subject to change.
  1. Adheres to the Credit Union's core values and Service Standards in conducting GreenState's mission and vision.
  2. Demonstrates a positive member service (internal and external) focus at all times.
  3. Demonstrates teamwork in all interactions with coworkers and in the completion of all duties and responsibilities.
  4. Ensures confidentiality of member information.
  5. Supports a diverse and inclusive work environment.
  6. Plays a vital role by participating in community service organizations and/or credit union sponsored events, on an annual basis.
  7. Adheres to all state, federal and credit union regulations, policies, and guidelines.
  8. Manages the appraisal ordering process from initial request/engagement to final receipt of the report.
  9. Corresponds with appraisers regarding current appraisal requests.
  10. Completes appraisal reviews for 1-4 family and commercial real estate loans.
  11. Communicates with the lending and servicing teams when appraisals are received and reviewed.
  12. Assists the Commercial Lenders and Underwriters in obtaining and analyzing current collateral information on existing loans for the purpose of conducting periodic reviews to determine the ongoing credit worthiness of the borrower.
  13. Keeps well informed as to market conditions as it relates to assessing portfolio risk with proposed and existing credits.
  14. Develops a working knowledge of credit administration, policy, and procedures.
  15. Maintains credit files in accordance with guidelines, work with Commercial Lenders and Underwriters to ensure that all necessary documentation is in the file.
  16. Researches and responds to internal (co-worker) and, occasionally, external (member or authorized third party) requests for collateral information on commercial loans.
  17. Provides support and assistance during internal, state, and federal audits and examinations.
  18. Act as a resource for all Commercial Services team members in order to facilitate the collateral analysis processes.
  19. Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements/Expectations

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or Economics is required.
  2. Minimum of 2 years experience in real estate field preferred.
  3. Experience working in a financial organization is preferred.
  4. Ability to coordinate and prioritize assignments and organize work efficiently. Good time management skills required to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and work efficiently in a time sensitive environment.
  5. Excellent figure aptitude, with accuracy and attention to detail required.
  6. Knowledge of procedures, forms, and regulations as they relate to commercial lending.
  7. Ability to deal tactfully and efficiently with members and co-workers on a professional level.
  8. Experience working in commercial credit environment is preferred.
  9. Proficiency in a wide variety of personal computer software programs, including the Microsoft Office application suite.
  10. Ability, availability, and willingness to work additional hours as dictated by the workload.
  11. Strong analytical skills with excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  12. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  13. Maturity and discretion to handle confidential information and safeguard members’ funds.
  14. Must be bondable.

Reporting Relationship

This position reports to the Vice President/Commercial Credit Admin.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position is not responsible for the supervision of others.
