Position Summary

POSITION SUMMARY:

Directly assists and collaborates with GreenState Attorneys and Paralegals to provide general legal support for GreenState Credit Union.

Salary range for this position is $90,593.36 - $105,914.12 with a progressive benefit package. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
Performs essential duties and responsibilities in the following areas which may include but are not limited to those listed and are subject to change.
  1. Adheres to the Credit Union's core values and Service Standards in conducting GreenState's mission and vision.
  2. Demonstrates a positive member service (internal and external) focus at all times.
  3. Demonstrates teamwork in all interactions with coworkers and in the completion of all duties and responsibilities.
  4. Ensures confidentiality of member information.
  5. Supports a diverse and inclusive work environment.
  6. Work closely with the Chief Legal Officer and/or VP/Paralegal & Executive Services in a team environment.
  7. Performs legal, factual, and records research.
  8. Identifies and communicates with staff regarding relevant judicial decisions, statutes, legal articles, codes and other pertinent material.
  9. Prepares and reviews legal documents including briefs, pleadings, agreements, contracts and legal memoranda.
  10. Reads and interprets legal documentation and code to determine and draft the appropriate legal correspondence, claims, and responses, independently.
  11. Review member provided documents regarding trust, estates and corporations for account opening and ownership request.
  12. Builds, organizes, and maintains legal databases and case files.
  13. Reviews and monitors new and updated laws and regulations.
  14. Manages designated legal functions and coordinates delivery of legal services to other departments.
  15. The AGC shall manage and respond to front line request for legal documents, contracts, estate, real estate and trust agreements.
  16. May represent the Credit Union directly in motion practice or limited trials.
  17. Provides guidance on complaint and dispute resolution strategies.
  18. May assist or prepare Senior Counsel and/or External Attorney for hearings and trials.
  19. Plays a vital role in enriching the community by participating in community service organizations and/or Credit Union sponsored events on an annual basis.
  20. Performs any other duties as may be required to meet Credit Union objectives.

Job Requirements/Expectations

  1. A J.D. degree from ABA accredited school is required.
  2. 0-3 years of related legal and financial institution experience
  3. Active license to practice law in Iowa or surrounding state or ability to be licensed within 3 months.
  4. Thorough knowledge of legal principles, practices, terminology, and research techniques.
  5. Ability to communicate with regulators and examiners on legal and regulatory matters.
  6. Knowledge of real property, conveyances and transfer.
  7. Knowledge of EDMS, ECF and electronic filing.
  8. The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment which requires collaboration.
  9. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills along with attention to detail and accuracy.
  10. The ability to quickly become a legal liaison and subject matter expert providing support to departments on legal issues.
  11. Reports to work punctually, works all scheduled hours, and works overtime as necessitated by business demand.
  12. Proficiency with related computer applications, spreadsheets, word processing, and database applications.
  13. Must be bondable.

Reporting Relationship

Reports to the Chief Legal Officer or VP/Paralegal and Executive Services based on experience.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position is not responsible for the supervision of others.
