Position Summary

The Commercial Loan Assistant will have extensive contact with external and internal members in the commercial services lending and deposit gathering functions. This position assists the lending staff with support services in the delivery of high-quality commercial products and services.

Pay range for this hourly position is $26.02 -$30.42/hr with a progressive benefits package. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Performs essential duties and responsibilities in the following areas which may include, but are not limited to those listed and are subject to change:

  1. Adheres to the Credit Union's core values and Service Standards in conducting GreenState's mission and vision.

  2. Demonstrates a positive member service (internal and external) focus at all times.

  3. Demonstrates teamwork in all interactions with coworkers and in the completion of all duties and responsibilities.

  4. Ensures confidentiality of member information.

  5. Supports a diverse and inclusive work environment.

  6. Plays a vital role in participating in community service organizations and/or credit union sponsored events, on an annual basis.

  7. Adheres to all state, federal and credit union regulations, policies and guidelines.

  8. Works under the direct supervision of the AVP/Commercial Operations to assist members and staff in the support of the Commercial Services department.

  9. Answers phones; provides work area coverage when Commercial Officer or Commercial Loan Associate is unavailable.

  10. Prepares correspondence as necessary or directed.

  11. Processes loan payments, deposit requests, account transfer requests.

  12. Processes line of credit advance requests.

  13. Provides account and product information.

  14. Assists with exception tracking and updating the file documentation database.

  15. Works to correct technical exceptions as quickly as possible.

  16. Corresponds with borrowers, realtors, attorneys, abstractors, insurance companies, etc.

  17. Prepares all loan documents associated with existing new commercial loans.

  18. Prepares and coordinates loan closings (loan documentation, Episys entries, checks, file copies, GL wash account, Excel spreadsheets, communication with member and loan officer)

  19. Verifies homeowners insurance and flood insurance if applicable (personal and association) and requests mortgagee clause change prior to closing.

  20. Sets up new members on Q2 for online banking and maintains existing accounts, including ACH functionality.

Job Requirements/Expectations

  1. High school diploma or equivalent (“GED”).
  2. Two to four years in a similar or related experience preferred.
  3. Must be bondable.
  4. Ability to coordinate and prioritize assignments and organize work efficiently for timely completion. Strong time management skills required to manage multiple assignments on time.
  5. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.
  6. Interpersonal skills to represent the credit union in a positive way during member contact.
  7. Excellent figure aptitude, with accuracy and attention to detail required.
  8. Knowledge of procedures, forms and regulations as they relate to commercial lending and deposit gathering.
  9. Ability to deal tactfully and efficiently with members and co-workers on a professional basis.
  10. Proficiency in a wide variety of personal computer software programs, including the Microsoft Office application suite.
  11. Availability and willingness to work additional hours as dictated by the workload.
  12. A strong working knowledge of local area network directories, protocol and general maintenance procedures.
  13. Strong analytical skills with excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  14. Self directed nature, ability to work independent of supervision, and ability to follow directions.
  15. Maturity and discretion to handle confidential information

Reporting Relationship

Reports to the AVP/Commercial Operations.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position is not responsible for the supervision of others.
